Telluride Ski Vacation

Telluride is one of the most charming in skiing, so historic and Old West that it is home to the first bank ever robbed by Butch Cassidy. It sits in a box canyon and is small but has everything you need: shops, restaurants, bars, etc. You can ski right to town, take off your skis, enjoy lunch and hop back on the chair or gondola without ever crossing a street. Telluride also has a second newer and entirely manufactured town, called Mountain Village, higher up on its slopes, home to most of the fancier hotels and countless ski-in/ski-out multi-million dollar homes. Mountain Village has a feel like Beaver Creek, with plazas and a skating rink and heated sidewalks. Because it was built for skiing, almost all the lodging, rental homes and condos in and around Mountain Village are conveniently ski-in/ski-out. It is linked to the Town of Telluride by a gondola unique in all of skiing, owned by the community of Mountain Village and operated as public transportation. It’s free for non-skiers and open until late at night, so people staying or living in Mountain Village can ride down to town to eat, drink and shop, or vice versa, keeping the Telluride visitor experience delightfully car free. You can even take your dog in the gondola and many locals use it to get to work. Book with Ski Trip Advisors and get access to amazing deals on lift tickets, ski & snowboard school, equipment rentals and complete vacation packages for great values throughout the season. .

Telluride Skiing

Rated the #1 ski resort in North America by Conde Nast readers, Telluride Ski Resortis recognized internationally as a premier ski and snowboard destination. Telluride’s terrain is legendary and has always been revered as the best of Colorado.

The region receives on average more than 300 inches of sno annually and offers more than 2,000 skiable acres for all ability levels. With 300 days of yearly sunshine and no lift lines, the skiing and snowboarding in Telluride is an epic experience. Telluride Ski Resort opened the new Revelation Bowl in 2008. This spectacular European-style terrain is situated above tree line and offers advanced and expert skiing in an unbelievably scenic setting. All told, the resort has recently expanded by nearly 400 acres, offering the most stunning skiing and riding on the continent.

So don’t go spreading this around… Prospect Bowl trees are the most under-utilized trees on the mountain. If you are a high-intermediate to                                       advanced skier, take a wide right off the Prospect Lift (Chair 12), ski past High Camp warming hut, and drop in to the Prospect Bowl trees from the top                       of the run. Always great snow and you’ll be the only person there. Another spot off of Prospect Chair – Take a left off of the chair, pop off your skis,                           and hike up to the first run called Confidence. Stay to the left on the run and jump into the trees to get back to the bottom of Prospect Lift (Chair 12).                           Shhhh, don’t tell anyone else!
